I know the body can be really hard to understand or predict what it’s going to do, or maybe those last few pounds just aren’t coming off like the rest did but here’s a few tips to help speed up your metabolism!
- Say to hell with happy hour.
I know that have a few drinks can always be fun but if you’re trying to lose weight you might want to reconsider. Research shows that the day after a night of partying or drinking leads to a significant dip in your metabolic rate. Between that and wanting deep fried, greecy food (which lets face is the best way to cure a hang over) really isn’t worth it.
- Say Hello to H2O (aka water)
Get your 8 glasses a day! Make sure you drink a lot I know that sounds cliche but in reality if you aren’t drinking enough water especially if you’re exercising your body just doesn’t work to it’s full potential and it slows your metabolism down.
- Get enough sleep, but not too much
Getting 8 hours of sleep does wonders for the body, but if you’re getting to much like falling asleep at 1 and sleeping till one does just the opposite.
- Drink tea
Green tea, Kombucha Tea, and Oolong Tea are all said to speed the metabolism& you can count it as your water intake :)
- Ditch the Soda (even Diet)
Although I am guilty of loving diet pepsi, soda no matter diet or regular it’s just not good for you. Diet soda a. is said to be linked to cancer because of the aspartame and b. because regular soda has so many calories in it and not good calories, sugar calories. Not to mention all soda leads to water retention.
- Switch up your workout
If you’ve been doing the same workout and have stopped seeing results it’s because your muscles got used to it so it was no longer a challenge for them. Try Interval Training, it burns more calories in less time.
- Try Supplements
Ginger, Vitamin C&B, and calcium supplaments are all very good for your metabolism. I take ginger a lot and it makes me feel a lot better after I eat. It can speed your digestion by 20%. Calcium is also good because a study showed that in obese people calcium levels were a lot lower then normal. They also said that a low level of calcium can trigger weight gain.
- Calm Down
When you get stressed out you body automatically makes you want to eat more. If you think about it it makes since. If you believe in evolution (if you don’t then just ignore all of this) then back when people were cavemen they didn’t come by food all that often so you body would in a stressed state wanting to store up on food so when you can across food you would eat as much as you could so you wouldn’t die before you ate next. So now your body is just genetically programmed to think that whenever you get stressed.
